Starting with the PG Certificate Course Bamboo Application Technology (BAT) in 2011, which was at that point in time the first structured course in the world that comprehensively delved into all aspects of the Bamboo sector.

Then in 2014, we launched our 9-week Modular Certificate Course BAT course in 6 cities in MP- Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Indore, Timarni, and Rajaborari with the support of the Madhya Pradesh Bamboo Mission. The course was launched in Bangalore in 2017.

Since 2005, we have conducted over 125 short certificate courses/workshops globally ranging from renowned universities and colleges, and government organizations to training for rural women, specially-abled children, unemployed youth, and street children.

120 people have completed the BAT courses so far. We have conducted 225 shortcourses/workshops and 2563 people have attended the workshops so far.


PG Certificate Course: Bamboo Application Technology (1 year)

This course is for anyone who is interested in working in the bamboo sector, starting an enterprise, training their community, or wanting to establish a large-scale business in the Bamboo sector.

The main purpose behind developing this course was to promote the use of Bamboo for Integrated environmentally friendly development and to generate employment opportunities for the masses. The broad objectives for the courses are as follows: 

  1. Promote the use of Bamboo as an eco-friendly material and technology by producing a technical workforce in this field.

  2. Spreading the seeds - to be a platform for innovation in the area of Bamboo technology by setting up an organized education program.

  3. Imparting to the students, necessary skills and abilities for employability in bamboo-based industries and enterprises.

  4. Imparting to the students, first-hand knowledge and skill sets for them to be able to set up bamboo-based enterprises which are low capital intensive.

  5. To promote the use of Bamboo technology in disaster management and rehabilitation.

  6. Devising programs for the upliftment of living standards of rural and tribal populations in the country and providing livelihood security.

The course runs once a year. Enrolment for the 2024 batch has been extended till November 18, 2023.

  • Bamboo Technology Overview, Bamboo properties, Bamboo plantation and harvesting, Enhancement of Natural durability of Bamboo, Joinery and Prefabrication, Bamboo Handicrafts Cottage Industry and product strategy, Bamboo Building Construction, Construction of Bamboo Structures, Bamboo-Based Industries, Disaster Management, and Entrepreneurship development.

  • 1. In Home Based Instruction Mode, students will access pre-recorded lectures of their courses at their place of convenience (home or otherwise through a secure website) or through the mail.

    2. Students are provided with self-learning printed material, question banks, and access to reference material.

    3. Fully equipped workshops, live sites, etc. for practical training locally and through well-planned contact programs at the CGBMT Headquarters.


Modular Certificate Course on Bamboo Application Technology (9 weeks)

This course is for anyone who is interested in working in the bamboo sector, starting a small business or generally wanting to learn more about Bamboo and it’s application.

  • Anyone who has graduated 8th standard/grade.

  • Mid-July and Mid-October

  • Rs. 750

  • Classroom teaching with practicals. Part-time weekend or 3 hrs/ Day, 6 Days or 6 hrs/Day, 3 Days a week course depending on the batch

    1. Introduction to Bamboo- History and Development, Distribution and properties of Bamboo, Bamboo Propagation, Bamboo Plantation, Bamboo preservation and treatment.

    2. Bamboo in building construction – Bamboo building types, Joints in Bamboo, Bamboo building components, Drawing, Finishing and costing, Prefabrication, Bamboo in disaster management.

    3. Bamboo-based Industries and Employment- Bamboo-based Industries, Bamboo processing, Handicrafts, Furniture, Bamboo composites, Agarbatti sticks, Bamboo charcoal, Employment, and Enterprise.

  • A mix of traditional instruction and e-education with hands-on practical sessions.

    1. Unique system with classes held at Study Centres.

    2. Videos, live and web-based lessons

    3. In Asynchronous and Semi- Synchronous mode, recorded video lectures.

    4. Students are provided with printed materials, question banks, etc.,

    5. Fully equipped workshops, live sites, etc., for practical training and well-planned institutional visits.
