Areas of Work

At the core, the focus is on sustainable living for all.

Eco Advocacy

CGBMT has been advocating for “Living in harmony with Nature”  to mitigate climate change and make this world a healthier and happier place to live. We work to raise awareness about all facets of Sustainable Living, viz., resource equity, energy efficiency, eco-friendly materials and technologies, water, and waste management, etc. through seminars, charrettes, and social media, etc. by engaging with all sections of society from everyday people, to institutions, industries to policymakers, since all are stakeholders with rights and duties in finding the right solutions for a better future for all.

In our effort to accelerate impact, in March 2020, we introduced the concept of “Simple Living” to simplify the concepts for effective outreach and applicability.

Skilling and Sustainable Livelihoods

To create a sustainable society, the sustainability sector needs to be developed. And that requires trained and employable human resources with practical knowledge and experience. Understanding the sector’s severe dearth of manpower, CGBMT has been engaged in skilling right from the turn of the century before the Millennium Goals were announced. Starting with short-duration skilling workshops on Sustainability, it now conducts courses and programs for various sections from school students, artisans, vulnerable communities, professionals, and everyday people to policymakers. Through skill development programs, we equip individuals with basic concepts, practical knowledge, techniques, incubation, and enterprise development in all areas of Sustainable Development thereby empowering communities, reversing the economy, and driving climate change.

Research and Development

With strong market forces promoting consumerism as the means of happiness, our advocacy for a Simple and Sustainable lifestyle needs to make a strong case through R&D to prove otherwise. CGBMT has been conducting on-site cutting-edge research and development fostering innovation in eco-friendly living practices and habitat development through collaboration with academia, government institutions, scientists, and industry experts in various projects globally. One of the most important aspects of our research is “ Recognition of prior learning” by engaging with communities with inter-generational traditional knowledge in developing simple, effective, practical, and economic solutions to combat climate change. With our multi-stakeholder and systemic approach, CGBMT remains at the forefront of eco-advancements, making substantial contributions to the field of Sustainable Development.

Safety in Public Spaces

We are a movement united in our belief that street harassment should not have a place in our society.

We aim to empower allies against street harassment by providing knowledge, and evidence, and advocating for an intersectional feminist movement against street harassment in Bangalore and India. This is because we recognize that altering societal attitudes toward street harassment is necessary to bring about lasting change.
